Delightful sport movie who actually makes you understand why people do these wacky sports. The team behind the equally fun and touching Rocketman carry on doing successful entertainment with decent visual ideas and themes. The film even spends time highlighting the importance money takes in sports and the sacrifices of (somtimes) supporting families.

By not restricting itself to being a documentary, the film can use a lot of cool techniques to convey the danger and exhilaration of making a ski-jump. It’s honestly a lot better than it would have you believe and does justice telling Eddie’s extraordinary story.

TW: long review (me being an architect does not impact this review)

A very tightly efficient and grounded film which captures something of the energy of the teenage years, with lots of laughs, energy, tears and twists. Gerwig’s movie also comprehends the socio-economics reality at play behind all slices of life and allows them to permeate and shape, very realistically, our protagonist’s path. It does everything it sets out to do well, without artifices.
