Makes me despise the East Asian music industry even more than I already do. Anytime I see someone claim to be a fan of a Japanese girl group, they simply have to be sent to the firing squad. Otherwise brilliant movie and quite mind bending in many ways.

Dog God 1997
After being banned by the Thai government for 25 years, I finally got the chance to watch this film in an indie cinema in Bangkok. Quite thought provoking and I love how this movie aims its shots at anything holy and sacred within Thailand’s religious institutions. Certainly not for the zealots and I totally understand why it was banned in the late 90s. In the 2020s with the emergence of new cults and black magic movements, I do think this movie resonates with many Thai people in a deeper level and those give food for thought over what we do and can believe in.

Behind the Painting 2001
Behind the Painting is one of the Thai novels that I was made to read back in school that I actually liked. But this movie copied word for word every single line from the movie, I like it because it was written for a romance novel that broke the norms of conventional relationships and taboo love but you’ve got to adapt so that the actors can actually do something out of it. Either way it sticks true to the novel…
