Andrei Rublev 1966
One of, if not, the, most complex films I ever watched. Tarskovsky perfectly makes use of silence to let the story really sink in. At the begin of the film Andrey is a naive god fearing monk, but after seeing the darker side of human nature he turns his back on this view and on his art. Watching this film felt like reading a really good book, it especially reminded me of Dostoevsky who was a clear influence.
