Io Capitano is a rich and horrifying account of two teenagers who set out on a journey from their homes in Dakar, Senegal to reach Europe. The movie is gut-wrenching time and again as we are forced to come to terms with the realities this journey entails. It's in that pain that the movie orchestrates a powerful tale.

Cinematically, this was beautiful. It was a genuinely unique story (thanks to Alasdair Gray, I hope to read the book soon), and the merging of the fantastic with reality was delightful. I laughed a lot and cried a little too.
