    Scarface

    ★★½

One of the most overrated movies of all time. Scarface is often mentioned in the same the breath as The Godfather and Goodfellas. Because of this, I probably went into Scarface with too high expectations and was really let down. Now, is this the worst movie ever made? No. Is it a bad movie? Not really. Just don't go into it expecting the top notch acting and storyline of the true titans of gangster storytelling.

Best cinematography I think I've ever seen in a movie. Set mostly in the deep woods of Montana, A River Runs Through It has the most beautiful scenes I've seen in a movie. The cinematography alone is enough to make this a great film. While it doesn't have the most exciting plot, it doesn't need to. The drama and dialog make this a very easy movie to put on and just relax to.

There are a lot of things that can turn a good movie into a great movie. Heath Ledger as the Joker is one of those things. Maybe the best acting performance since Marlon Brando in The Godfather, Ledger is what makes this movie. No doubt this would have been a good movie without him, Christian Bale is a fantastic Bruce Wayne, and my favorite character (besides the Joker), Michael Caine as Alfred. Christopher Nolen did an excellent job of making…

Coming out 3 years after the iconic "Goodfellas", A Bronx Tale didn't quite live up to the notoriety of it's older brother. It is a generally a well regarded movie, but is very underrated in my opinion and should be mentioned in the same conversation as Goodfellas. Chazz Palminteri gives an iconic gangster performance that rivals almost any mobster role. To see Robery De Niro as a stern but loving father in a gangster movie is also a nice change of pace.
