First things first, the use of the score is really bizarre to me. It isn’t effective for the tone of the film. There are random, momentary hits of a drum or a weird horn motif in between bits of dialogue. I don’t understand the intention or the goal behind it, and it was strange. I recommend watching this in sections (which is what I did) because you can’t feel the draggy runtime as much. There is so much to love about this film. I LOVE the colours, I LOVE the energy of the performances, and I love the way the plot progresses. The way Dolan treats his characters like flawed, real people is very heartwarming.
