I just watched the limited remastered theatrical release of Interstella 5555…
and boy …
What a let down. It’s an insult to the legacy of Leiji Matsumoto and the great art of animation. I didn’t know going in that it was remastered by an AI upscaler. All the the work of the artists that made this is washed out with animation inconsistency and artefacts.
Dull details , wobbly line, background that feel like a bad photoshop cutout filter… it’s all…
I didn't transit 45 min and walked 15 min to go see this movie.
Still i understood Yannick, the titular character, disappointment with the play on stage in the movie. With a running time of 67 min, Dupieux know when to slow down things to create a sense of discomfort. I felt an hostage of the situation like the crowd of the play in the movie. It feels like a big critic of the artistic elitism, art accessibility and subjectivity toward art. I recommend it, but don't transit 45 min and walk 15 min to go see it.
Beautiful cinematography , but convoluted editing that does not serve the story really well. It’s also a name dropping fest that keeps you confused on who’s who. This movie shouldn’t have been that complicated to follow. My only regret is that I didn’t watch Barbie instead of this .
Dark skies.... watching the real sky would have been more enjoying than watching this
