Dancer in the Dark 2000
I learned during this movie to detach (as best as i could) my feelings about the characters from the overall plot, because I couldn’t have gotten through it otherwise. So, though heartbreaking, the plot is absolutely incredible. Everything happens so gradually, building so many layers that each dropped my jaw even further.
I love the documentary style footage, mixed with professional camera work for the musical scenes. It adds to the overall feeling so powerfully.
All that being said, I have never cried harder to a film in my life. I’m in awe.
