It’s not about how you fall, it’s about how you land.”

La Haine masterfully illustrates many issues of modern society including violence, hatred, and injustice from a point of view that we don’t see enough. From the opening scene, we are thrown straight into the treacherous lives of the marginalized and with each passing scene, tension builds and builds, culminating in the film’s staggering conclusion. The characters, acting, and dialogue are excellent and the cinematography is stellar with a few truly…

This movie gets better and better every time I watch it — it's seriously groundbreaking. While it gives us yet another Spider-Man origin story, it does so in such a new, unprecedented, fun, and compelling way that it doesn't even remotely feel like another stale origin story. Mid Bong hit :(

Dreadfully slow start. Weird tonal shifts. Felt no emotion whenever someone supposedly important would die. Cool set/costume design to distinctly differentiate tail and front end people however. Great action and good performances all around also. The second half of this picks up and gets wild and entertaining and seemed primed for a great ending, but then the ending fell extremely flat for me. Basically a bloody, apocalyptic R-rated version of The Polar Express, and I do not particularly enjoy that movie (thanks elementary school).

Terence Fletcher might have the deepest and most creative bag of insults of all-time. He also might be one of the most menacing villains in cinematic history. I fucking love JK Simmons with all my heart.
