  I’ve truly had it with A24 “vibe” movies. Without a narrative that develops over the course of the film we are left to marinade in the bad vibes the film creates in the disconnect between the image and the sound. This general bad feeling is never developed with the filmmakers purely satisfied with making you feel uncomfortable. Remember when bad vibe films also developed nuance and meaning instead of just remaining at this shallow, mildly unpleasant depth?

  I’m sure many would argue this to be a minor film by Lang, but to me this is perhaps the most successful of all his wartime thrillers I’ve seen. The plotting is perfect and the resolution of every beat is satisfying. Contains some of the most visceral action of any of Lang’s films. I’m shocked that people don’t talk more about the brutal and kinetic fight between Cooper and the Italian Officer.
