The Substance film vividly captures how even the most beautiful women are not immune to the harsh pressures of societal beauty standards, insecurities, and body dysmorphia. It explores the lengths women are willing to go in their pursuit of physical perfection, often sacrificing their well-being for the sake of vanity. The portrayal of female self-hatred is stark and unrelenting, highlighting the emotional and psychological toll that these unattainable ideals take on women's sense of self-worth. The film's emphasis on this destructive cycle is both powerful and thought-provoking, shedding light on the darker side of the beauty industry and the personal battles many women face.

liked how the ending is open to interpretation but for me i think it was all in her head (including the whole morris situation) and she was never truly saved
