Black Swan 2010
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Both the movie and the ballet have the theme of metamorphosis: Odette transforming from swan to woman and back again, and Nina's attempt to transform from the white swan to the black swan and encapsulate both. While Odette would rather die alongside the Prince than remain a swan forever - preserving themselves and their love in doing so - Nina, in her self-harm and subsequent death, both achieves and preserves the perfection she has been working towards her entire life.
The movie captures the tortured artist, and the immense internal and external pressure which ultimately aids Nina's increasing loss of touch on reality.

Saltburn 2023
This is one I didn't expect to like as much as I did. Such a perfect combination of comedy and dark thriller that engaged me in a way few movies do. Amazing acting across the board. Camp and funny yet disturbing and thought-provoking, at times heart-wrenching. A great story of class, identity, envy, and lust.
