No complaints about the acting performances or the staging. I just found the music to be something to endure more than enjoy.

I appreciate the ambition. The Artist is far more successful in its homage than something like LA LA Land is, certainly. I just wish it had been more playful with the format, like it suggests it might with the dream sequence in the middle.

A fun genderbending comedy about a man who's so shitty he gets his gender transed by god. It's all about the way Ellen Barkin plays the lead. As a constantly disheveled mess of a woman who never learns to walk in heels, but never stops wearing 'em. A woman who bumbles through her attempted lesbian relationship as much as she does her straight one.

Don't love the way the end of the movie locates womanhood around the capability to give birth tho.

My first Veronica Lake film and... hello. I love silly stories about witches and this is a fun little witchy romantic comedy. Highlights: Veronica Lake, her outfits, her light airy sensibility, the way the light plays off her hair... anyway I recommend it.
