Felt like an 1 1/2 John Lewis advert but I’m not complaining. I think I might have burst a tear duct but all in good faith - fucking fantastic.

The Brutalist 2024
Actually mind blowing how good this is. Aside from all the very important cultural and historical signifiers, give me Adrian Brody’s wardrobe now. Get yourself a man who can pull off a long leather trench coat with a Peter Pan collar.
In all seriousness, the way this film deals with everything from the con of the American dream to how trauma is held in both the body and brain is insane. Every theme touched on feels like it deserved its place…

Wacko - if you’re not ready to commit to the whole monkey thing (which I wasn’t) then it drags. If you are, like my father, expect tears every ten minutes. Did appreciate that it reminded me that “Rock DJ” is an absolute joy of a song.
