Now i appreciate an original scifi film, fresh ideas abound here for sure.
I think I enjoyed much of the story and definitely enjoyed the setting and graphics. There were just too many misses in terms of direction of scenes and character arch to be a good film.
Mark Ruffalos attempt at Goldblum left me confused, which probably carries over to the rest. The film felt like it was trying to be a dark comedy, but wasnt hugely funny. Then tried to be a dark drama, but then didnt feel hugely dark.
Hit and a miss, but appreciated the idea.

Tropic Thunder 2008
I feel like this is the last of the great comedies.
Since then comedic cinema had fully moved to sitcom and watered down films. I hate to sound like a boomer when i say they dont make em like the used to, but theyll never make anything like this again.
Its a cracker.

The Vast of Night 2019
Hooly, maybe I just love hokey alien flicks but that was a cracker. The soundtrack, the performances and the way it was shot were immense.
I felt so engaged by the story and believed every moment and reaction from each character, the film grain and shots used just seemed to add to the mystique of what was happening, this also served to feel like the cobbled together reporting that the characters were also attempting.
