How do you express violence in a digestible way? Make it a brilliant dance routine. I simply love how every scene in this movie was choreographed so perfectly that there’s no need for deduction. You understand the message right away. Music was on point too, except for the thousand Maria’s that were said within the 3-hour movie. Every song was able to capture the essence of each character and the scoring is immaculate, specially in the first scene.

Do the Right Thing 1989
I tried watching it the first time with the wrong headspace. Went through the first quarter of it and didn’t get it. Talking to Gabi about it made me want to give it a second try. And holy shit Gabi was right. This is one of those head shifting movies where you have to digest a very heavy load, but they make it accessible. It’s a beautiful cut of a reality that is still so sadly true. Kept reminding me of the George Floyd case.
