The whole cast was great, seamlessly creating a very funny, and never boring, family dynamic. Movie as a whole was a ton of fun and gave some great laughs, as well as emotional moments. The directors also did a great job making the beauty pageant scenes as viscerally uncomfortable as possible

As good (if not better, actually) than advertised. Spike Lee masterfully creates a neighborhood with such real, tangible characters and locations. Brief introductions for all of them are all we need to understand their dynamics, and each scene with each group adds to the powder keg of tension being built on this hot summer day. Masterpiece. You know the feeling when you wake up from a dream and you don’t remember exactly what it was about, but you definitely know how it made you feel? Lynch is the master of eliciting the same feeling through his films, and I mean that in the best possible way. Provides so much to analyze, digest, and most importantly, feel. Rest in peace Mr. Lynch, I wish I’d properly gone through his filmography sooner
