I had extremely high expectations for this movie, and, unfortunately, it did not quite live up to them. Fury Road is a master class on pacing and enthralling action with wonderful character development. I was left wanting more in all three aspects by the end of Furiousa. The pacing felt off. I am, of course, watching all three movies. So next is Two Towers, my favorite of the three! I just think there is the perfect amount of epic battle scenes compared to story progression. I especially love Merry and Pippin's storyline in this film - the escape from the orcs to the Ents to the great defeat of Saruman. Also the real introduction of Gollum and his crazy mind.

I wanted to love this movie more than I did, truth be told. The acting was incredible and it was beautifully shot with the retro feel of the time coming through with long zooms and slow landscape shots. The story just felt disjointed. It felt like vignettes of a tragically beautiful love story rather than one seamless story. Some questions were left unanswered, which is always frustrating. And I found the motives of the villain uncertain and never really touched upon. It was a beautifully bloody love story told through wonderful acting and such a great concept. I just walked away... still hungry, you could say.
