The vibes were absolutely there with this one. Not good or wholesome vibes, to be sure, but the necessary vibes to make a film like this work. The sound design, editing, and the Monroe and Cage performances make for some truly terrifying moments. Not really the film it may have been marketed as, but I think I prefer what we got in this dread-and-paranoid-filled slow burn way more. Though I haven’t seen a lot of films from this year yet, I’m gonna lock in the opening scene as one of the best of the year.

Don’t want to add to the Mank slander but yeah I definitely liked this more than Mank. A pretty standard story but executed incredibly well because it’s Fincher of course, and it was awesome to watch the Killer using modern tools and apps and spaces in his plans, even if it was mostly not-so-subtle product placement.
