It's all about Alan Arkin wearing a long leather jacket covered in oil getting stabbed and crawling on the floor in dramatic lighting. There's something so fetishy to me about his whole look and demeanor in this. Especially at the end. The dynamic between them switching to her having the slight upper hand in the dark makes this movie as strangely erotic as it is terrifying. It's always sexy when a female character outsmarts a bunch of pathetically scheming men.
I cannot negotiate in an atmosphere of mistrust.
