this movie hits for me idk!!! it touches on a lot of the same concepts as midsommar, which really works for me. it’s much less about whether something will happen than it is about seeing how, why, and when it happens. it’s an intimate story, it’s about a group of friends who have experienced a trauma together and are figuring out how to rebuild their lives. The cascading effects of grief, how people process tragedy, the danger of both suppression…

I like the visual storytelling, portrays the South with sentiment and care. I love that, but was not compelled by the characters personally. a man so frustrated by his reality that he returns to the past, to a simpler time. it’s a time that his parents idealized, he is driven towards what once was and he draws his family into his fantasy. it is tragic, i mean that is interesting. idk it just didnt really hit for me

Gorgeous, moody, and loving depiction of connection, loss, devastation, and renewal. There is a lighthearted, but contemplative tone established through the characters’ monologues. They muse on their experiences in a way that is extremely unique to the events of their life, but universally recognizable. Love <3
