Watching this two years later and really being present & intentional in my viewing, this time around I can say this is an incredible film. From the actors performances — specifically Sterling and his portrayal of the physically present yet emotionally disconnected father — to the soundtrack, to the cinematic elements this is just an incredible movie and gives the audience a beautiful experience.

This winter break I’m getting back into my love for documentaries and this was a great start. I love the simplicity of some of the shots bc they contrast with the heavy, tension filled, emotional scenes so well. I normally like my documentaries to be a little more informative…but I think that was the point of this! You don’t have to know statistics, numbers, and names to really get an understanding of how the victims feel, and the effect this has on the generations after. Great watch.
