I will watch anything with Harris as it’s usually decent, and I was especially looking forward to seeing this because of Kidman playing a role that is probably worth putting out there and talking about. Overall though, it felt too try hard and cliché. So I left feeling a bit like she did in the first scene.

Spending almost two hours trapped in this pretentious house witnessing the interminably frustrating married life of these middle aged childless ‘creatives’ was a little bit painful, somewhat irritating, but very cleverly real. Despite the couple’s ability to languish in their art-practice all day, every day at home, it makes you feel lucky you aren’t them.

This film achieves through its mist-like transitions what seems impossible to capture, and yet it does so in brutally moving ways, and without ever being too sentimental. Its story is kept completely open to interpretation, without being vague, which is a difficult balance to strike. It also features the most realistic depiction of a K-hole I’ve ever seen - a mise en abime on the subject matter of the transience of time, places and people in our lives.
