The Killing of a Sacred Deer 2017
Yorgos Lantinhos improves upon The Lobster with this movie. It has the same uncanny-valley character style. The actors purposefully display as little genuine emotion in body and word as possible, opting for more robotic movements and monotone voices with awkwardly candid word choices. The thing that makes this movie work is that these strangely robotic characters are pushed to the brink of emotional turmoil, and we get to see these actors display that turmoil through the smeared lens of their stoic demeanors. Also Colin Farrell's beard game is 10/10.

No Country for Old Men 2007
This movie is a modern western that non-western fans can get behind. Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem have so fine-tuned their acting for this movie, that on my second viewing, I see more detail and nuance in their characters than I was expecting. The Coen Brothers have plenty of directorial flair and license to inject into their movies, but in this movie, they are merely messengers for a good story - the editing and flow is deft but nonintrusive. My frontal lobe loves this movie.
