  A terrifying and unglamorous portrait of the horrors of violence of not just the physical sort but of the psychological kind. To me it is just so awful because this isn't primarily a display of nazi offences but a display of how far to the darkest extremes human nature can be taken by notions of superiority and that it might be impossible to truly escape this mindset being apparent and therefore actively pervasive in this world.   I really thought that this would be a little more experimental in its structure, character arcs, anything really. Most of the story elements I have seen in other films or read in books and it really seemed like too many messages were trying to be subtly hinted at for each scene to have much overwhelming significance to a general theme.
