Hard to believe this was broadcast on TV when it was. I would have expected a lot of the darkness and psychological trucks to be toned down significantly.
Maybe that speaks to why this is so lauded so many years later. Ghost stories don’t usually stay as fraught throughout. In fact, there is an argument that it never stops ratcheting up the stress, right up until the final frame.

Wow. What an joyous and uplifting celebration of the downtrodden and invisible. The film centres on two characters, Patty, who is the butt of everyone’s jokes and Simon, an on the run criminal who is the frontman for a punk band.

They bond over their common love of music and are a perfect fit for what the other needs out of life. This is a modern love story, a sort of Napoleon Dynamite for the new generation.

Emily Skeggs performance is sensational, filled with such genuine and heartfelt emotion in the quiet as well as the outlandish. An easy recommendation to any lover of independent cinema.
