The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

    ★★★½

Looney Tunes in theaters? I’m there. And even though this is basically a buddy cop Looney Tunes movie with Daffy and Porky, and doesn’t feature the full lot of Looney characters. I still found this quite enjoyable for what it is. It’s a gorgeously made throwback with tons of nostalgic beats and animation. It’s charming as heck. It’s fun. Silly. And just a good time. There are some gags that don’t work as well as others, but fans of Looney Tunes will get a kick out of this.

This may not be the brilliance that Parasite was, but this is still a fantastic movie top to bottom. It’s no easy task to follow what I personally consider a masterpiece, and deliver yet another thoughtful but wildly different film from it’s predecessor. Bong Joon-ho is much heavier on the satirical side this time with a movie that jabs at capitalism and corruption. And it does so in a way that is not only funny, but really heartfelt as well.…

A powerful movie about the importance of artistic expression, and the reality of the incarceration system. Colman Domingo puts forth a great performance, and thankfully the entire cast is highly likable. The story is heartfelt, and frustrating, but also uplifting. The pacing hit a few snags for me, but I was never not engaged. This is definitely a movie I wished got a better theatrical release schedule, and push in general. It’s well worth the time.

This was a fun little flick. I enjoyed it, but slightly less than expected. It’s a good time, but the schtick ran cold for me quicker than expected. It is funny, and Jack Quaid is likable, but 20 minutes less would’ve been a perfect run time for this movie. I had fun nonetheless.

Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear

A little too short to be anything of significance, but it's a fun little half hour documentary of all things Buzz Lightyear. Going from his inception, to Toy Story, to now the Buzz Lightyear movie. It's a little appetizer for fans to digest. Several stories and little nuggets from creators and others involved at Pixar Studios. It's a decent quick watch.

    ★★½

This expands on the Bird Box premise. And for the most part, its a slightly better take on the concept. Sure, it's missing the star power that Bullock brought to the universe, but this movie doesn't necessarily need it. It's still bleak. It's still predictable. And the characters are still annoyingly silly. And no, we still dont get to see the creatures. But I will say, the faith twist isn't bad, and it feels like they at least tried something…
