Watched in IMAX.
An astounding cinematic achievement. Hard to understate how foundational Kubrick's cinematography is to the future of sci-fi cinema, it holds up so well. It's strange though how the cold, lumbering, tone of 2001 hasn't been so regularly adopted (from my memory), outside of (most noteably) Alien—a horror film.
There's something that feels so unsettling about 2001. We should go there more.
Conceptually, quite unique, but slow slow slow nonethless. Very little pay-off (in a 'horror' sense).
