  Caught this at a midnight screening after only gettng a few hours rest the night before. Actually an ideal film to watch while fighting through sleep-deprivation.

  Raw, real, and hilarious as often as it is painful. Some might be put off by the 4.5 hour runtime (and this is just the first half) but, by comparison, the Dune audiobook is over 21 hours long - and Dune doesn't even include a fight with a living statue in any of its battle scenes.

  Undeniably well-made, but too caught up in Big Themes to fully satisfy as a story.

  Then there's *that* scene, which sticks out so badly I can only conclude it exists for The Metaphor; and a real sledgehammer of an epilogue that could have been dispensed with - or at least given greater emotional heft - with more careful storytelling in the preceding hours.
