  I didn’t expect to watch a film about Bob Dylan and end up caring about every single character more than the protagonist himself. But the problem isn’t merely that he lacks depth or complexity — the problem is that he’s simply unlikable. And I can’t decide whether to place the blame on Timothée Chalamet (whose casting I was already skeptical about from the start) or on James Mangold’s curious directorial choice to keep him “a complete unknown.”
