The Shawshank Redemption 1994
What makes this movie so engaging for me, was the way the protagonist Andy was able to use his wits to play everyone and the system like a game of chess. One of those characters that’s always 2 steps ahead and the payoff is always rewarding. Which is no surprise since he enjoys playing chess in the movie. The movie weirdly reminds me a lot of good will hunting -smart protagonist, supportive side characters, and just the way the movie is produced. Odds are if you like that movie, you’ll love this one.

The Tree of Life 2011
One of those experiences that transcended film for me. Ones of those movies like 2001 space odyssey where you leave thinking about life and death and what all this means. Beautifully shot, amazing acting, and well written. Definitely has left some sort of impact on me.
