Godzilla, as a figure, becomes all the more haunting set in a post-war Japan—the specter of a nation’s trauma rampaging senselessly by land and sea.
GODZILLA MINUS ONE takes all of that gravity and finds deft ways—zooming in and out of the it’s characters lives and a nation’s grief—to break the audience’s heart.
While the undeniable chemistry between Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson is enough to get you from scene to scene, it’s not enough to makeup for the utter lack of substance in every part of BABYGIRL.
The characters don’t make sense. Their motivations are unclear and their characterization comes out of nowhere devoid of any semblance of context.
Unfortunately, it’s all a waste.
DUNE: PART TWO confirms a lot of what we knew to be true in PART ONE: There’s no better auteur alive to tackle this behemoth than Denis Villeneuve. Every thing that stupefies in its first part continues to that end in the second.

Not a single creative force behind this movie could be replaced. Mikey Madison shimmers effortlessly like only few have before. Yura Borisov turns in a quiet scene-stealer of a performance that will be for the history books.
And Sean Baker, once again, proves he is a generational auteur—unmatched in his ability to find true human compassion in his subjects.
