first 20-30 minutes felt very engaging, an interesting plot is proposed. then, between the lack of chemistry of the whole cast, the underwhelming performances, the use of chopin's music and the film's lack of identity, everything falls completely flat. i wouldn't personally consider myself a fan of kieran culkin's performances in general, same with jesse eisenberg, and although they did have good moments. a highlight for me being the scene at the rooftop with the red lighting and awkward argument…

perfect sound design for a movie that is so intimately told, as if we were watching it all go down from behind Lawrence's shoulders. conclave has some beautiful relationship to the colors in the film and its photography only helps highlight it.
