Ma Rainey's Black Bottom 2020
Really enjoyed this film. It still maintained the essence of a play-like structure that this film was adapted from - I wouldn't be able to tell you how plays are written haha, but it definitely felt like I was watching a stage play and I just love that feeling. (hmm, maybe a signifier that it's adapted from a play is the heavy dialogue and general pacing of that dialogue?)
On that note, there were definitely some scenes in the beginning…
