I appreciate that the text has been lifted directly from the children’s book, but on screen the dialogue swung infuriatingly from shallow aphorisms that sounded like inspiration quotes from embroidered cushions and self conscious quaintness that would make even Mary Poppins cringe. Not to mention the music shoving its fist down my throat to FEEL THINGS within minutes of the start when I don’t even know anything about the characters yet. We shouldn’t be condescending our audience with two dimensional characters and sentimental adages, especially kids.
