liv ullmann delivered one of the best performanes i have ever seen.
my throat was knotted throughout the whole film - ingmar bergman unravels the relationship between charlotte and eva so eloquently. i think it's beautiful how he wrote the film in a sonata form with an exposition, development, and recapitulation. the last scene mimicked the first; all the repressed emotions yet longing still presented itself. and the monologues strewn in between were conveyed so naturally.
