The Butterfly Effect 2004

a classic that really makes you think – i only get annoyed at evan cause he’s not concerned about his own health and wellbeing, but i think that’s just part of his erratic character and honestly i would be pretty crazy too if i had 18 years of memories stuffed into me like 5 times in a row. regardless, i appreciate how this film isn’t afraid to get dark to teach the audience a lesson.

A Knight's Tale 2001
if i’m completely honest i fell asleep halfway through so will have to come back to this film and actually pay attention. BUT the soundtrack is cracking, heath ledger is beautiful and the bits of plot i picked up pretty iconic so i’ve been convinced to make some proper time for it soon

The Pursuit of Happyness 2006
an absolute classic which is hard to watch but somehow ive pulled it off twice so i must have more control over my emotions than i thought. more about the message and the journey than the artistic production but that’s what it set out to do from the beginning and i appreciate it for that.

Dirty Dancing 1987

obviously an iconic film but not very resounding in getting any message across to the audience and is overall pretty slow pace. i can also appreciate there’s a lot of showing not telling which can be confusing for the pacing but you could just call this its 80s charm. it’s also feel-good to live the joy of a summer romance via a girl who’s real name is not baby. one thing i did learn was that i should always put baby in the corner if it means patrick swayze comes to save the day with one of the most iconic dance scenes of all time.
