I read something recently that said coming of age movies can be about a protagonist at any age, and that idea just further solidified my love for this genre. Omni Loop is a prime example of this, it really feels like you’re learning and growing with Zoya even though she’s at the end of her life. Ayo killed it per usual and I really enjoyed the quirkiness and emotion at the heart of all of this.

Challengers 2024
Luca Guadagnino just seems to get tennis and how intimate of a sport it truly is. From the ritualistic minute movements a player does before they serve the ball to the wordless but weighty gaze between opponents, “Challengers” did a beautiful job at conveying the profound relationships that tennis creates on and off the court. So rewarding to watch a sports movie where you can actually believe the actors are the athletes they’re portraying.
Also as a former burnt out junior tennis player and current Stanford student (who also has a dog named Tashi), this movie hitttt.
