pleasantly surprised at this movie! I read a lot of stuff for the diss about it but it does actually hold up. It’s also really interesting for its time and it’s portrayal of physical disability as not the end of someone’s life. it shows the corruption and mistreatment in the hospitals without portraying the men in them as other. also holy soundtrack my god one after another! it really does exist within itself though, and for a movie set in 1968 it does shockingly little commentary or mention of the wider anti-war movement especially among GIs on bases
