  Love Is Colder Than Death 1969

  The first Fassbinder movie I have seen and I am very excited to watch more. I love the way he holds shots for so long. And you expect it to end and it just keeps going and going and you get sucked in to the beauty and simplicity of it and then there’s a payoff that you didn’t expect that makes it even more worth the wait.

  I watched this for the first time in years and definitely appreciated it a lot more this time. I love this movie because it’s so beautifully shot and the acting is incredible and it has some very strange and interesting characters set in a boring suburban town in typical David Lynch fashion. As he’s done multiple times since this movie, he manages to make a pretty straightforward story feel so fantastic and suspenseful and mysterious. Watching this again I can see why this is so many people’s favorite Lynch film.
