In the Mood for Love 2000
An exquisitely executed movie plastered with on-the-nose visual symbolism that outshines the performances and script that tries to showcase the slow turmoil of love, moral, and infidelity, ultimately creating a dull storyline.
The directing fails to convey the complexity and tension in the relationship between our two protagonists until the last act of the movie, which feels gratuitous if you haven’t been wooed by the symbolic shots, angles, and colors that seem to carry the movie yet are incapable of creating empathy and proximity with the storyline.
Would rewatch to see if a second take changes my mind.
