Only Michael Mann can make a whistleblower plot cover so much ground thematically and grip your attention the whole way through. Such good acting from Pacino, Crowe and Plummer.
Beautiful cinematography with moody blues, greens and etc. - loved the perspective shots done next to faces.
SUPER underrated in mann’s filmography, and 90s cinema in general.
From a directorial standpoint, this was definitely out there for the time period. really liked the vibrant colors, editing, and framing of the shots.
I didn’t necessarily vibe with the plot pacing, one I’ll have to revisit down the road
psychological and bleak, watched the 50th anniversary cut and this felt special.

You could feel the craft and effort that went into this. This had some of the most beautiful shots I’ve seen - especially during the pagan portion.
Yeah it’s definitely epic, but it’s also emotional and philosophical. Definitely one to rewatch since there’s so many layers to each part.
