When I figured out the sound designer recorded his own cat to bring this character to life, I knew I was gonna be a goner.  This film is infused with so much life despite having no dialogue and every time that damn cat meowed after being swept out to see, my eyes started brimming with tears.  More independent films like this please, please, please (preferably also with black cats and Secretary Birds).

One of the best docs I’ve seen.  Walked out of the premiere at Sundance angry, emboldened, but hopeful too.  That’s powerful storytelling and the reason I love film.

These librarians are tough as nails and both childhood me who saw libraries as a refuge and the bibliophile that I am today, would defend them with my life.  Get a library card folks and defend your librarians, keep books on the shelves and defend knowledge and truth, this shit is getting serious.

Not a dry eye in the theatre.  We need more movies like this that center hope and community.

Saw the premiere at the NYFF and was blown away.  Dialogue was exquisite, 16mm shined and did so much for the dreamy-ness of the story.  Felt so whimsical but also so rooted in reality, I saw myself in it despite having never grown up like this.
