Remarkably relevant for a nearly 70 (!!) year old film. Truth, justice, class, masculinity and society broken down to be rebuilt all within one room and 90 minutes.
Works wonders in it's limited setting. The compositon of the shot where they all abandon Juror #10 during his racist diatribe is incredibly powerful. As the film reaches it's climax the close ups are monolithic. Incredible stuff.
Not for the faint of heart. Takes it's premise so far over the top, it jumps right off the edge. While it doesn't quite sprout the wings necessary to fly, it sure does land with a hideously grotesque splat.
The precise moment this franchise becomes big dumb, stupid fun. Having a cloned Ripley/Alien is ridiculous but also allows this to feel inconsequential to the original trilogy.
Feels similar in tone to The Lost World (a true guilty pleasure of mine). Isolated team with mismatched motivations, escaping through various setpieces and slowly being picked off one by one. Y'know, standard big dumb monster movie shit.
