  just so incredibly empathetic and filled with so many simply human moments that you can’t help but overlook the little faults here and there.

  liotta was one of a kind too with that piercing stare and menacing presence.

  a man walked out flipping off the screen as the credits rolled and the teenager next to me told her friend it was the worst film she’d ever seen so naturally this was one of the most engaging films i’ve seen in a while.

  still not quite sure what to make of it as a whole but it was exceptionally beautiful to look at even as its characters suffered and were torn apart.

  ah, the eternal struggle between those who believe in and create art for art’s sake and those who seek to commodify and control it. the brutalist weaves this central theme on top of an american dream immigrant story quite well for most of its runtime but the film veers ever so slightly into sinful “telling instead of showing” territory especially in the second half.
