I think I saw God- and he was a machine.

Some very raw moments with a lot of potential, but the film just doesn’t quite pull through.

It has really strong and consistent themes, but is sloppy on the delivery. The special effects took me off guard and I thoroughly enjoyed them, especially the lil’ clay dude.

As much as I wanted to find meaning in the chaos of it, it felt haphazard rather than impactful, and a lot of the symbolism fell flat.

The ending is spectacular though, the absolute mayhem is baffling and very fitting.

The inability to speak up confronted with the dangers of dismissal.

This movie amazed me in its development; able to highlight aspects of mental health, societal pressures and destabilised personal boundaries, whilst satisfying the thrill of a classic horror. Our main character, incapable of communicating, is confronted by traditionally aligned extroverts, keen to affirm their own beliefs in the silence. Lawd, got me messed up.

    A ride. Just a ride.

A lot of scampering, a lot of bugs. A slow drag through eerie sounds, slow pan shots, light to dark scene transitions and some gorgeously damaged characters for continuous cycles of dramatic tension build and release. Although, the last 15 minutes do not let you catch your breath.

This movie leaves a lot to dissect, there is so much thought and creativity gone into creating such intense atmosphere. The thrill has story depth and foundation to back it up, making it all the more brutal of a shock.

Thank god I went in absolutely blind, there is no way to predict what this movie throws at you.

Just as a thriller-horror, this movie stands alone beautifully. The sound caught my attention most; complementing the tone of each scene so perfectly. The amount of detail to noise makes it creepy, or fun, or terrifying, or whatever the hell the director wants you to feel in that very moment. The way the atmosphere is manipulated and altered moment to moment…
