Revisiting this one after a few recent conversations…
What previously bothered me about the film (ie blatant disrespect and disregard for the main character’s relationship) was actually a choice (not a good one, but one that I can now empathize with)
I think my distaste was partially attributable to a lack of cultural understanding around the concept of “in yeon”. What felt like awkward silence, where I would have added dialogue, was perhaps intentional space to hold this concept.
