Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within 2001
I think I’m rating this so highly because nostalgia, being like 9 years old and watching this alone in a pitch black room was an experience I haven’t forgotten. This was also square’s proof of concept for this type of photorealistic animation and they nailed it. Sure, sometimes it falls into uncanny valley here and there but the animation is so fluid it’s fantastic. It’s got all the weirdness you get from anything square puts their fingers in.

Alien 1979
It took me this long to actually watch this movie but I quite enjoyed it. It was a solid sci-fi thriller with some horror tossed in there.
The set design though was impeccable, from the design of the actual ship to its interior they nailed the feeling of some not so distant future of real technology. The practical effects were great too.
I was a bit distracted drawing while watching this so I definitely will rewatch and update :3
