but fr i love this movie. cold war era, anti war and pretty anti military, benevolent underwater alien sci fi! so cool. i first watched this when i was like 13 and all i could remember was the liquid oxygen and that i liked it. it was better than i remembered. gotta watch the special edition

YES this was essentially a hallmark movie. YES i loved it regardless. this movie follows Naomi Watts’ character Iris as she deals with grieving her best friend and having ownership of his massive dog Apollo thrust upon her. Iris (obviously) comes to love Apollo and fights to keep him in her life. since he’s a great dane, he has a short lifespan and she has to confront the reality that he won’t be in her life very long.
