A psychological thriller administered via an allegory, this was so deeply uncomfortable to watch. A deep exploration of human psyche, desires, anxieties, mortality, good, evil. You're left with a sense of creeping dread watching this, waiting for the characters to come to the realizations you're forming juuuust ahead of them. Watching to see if they break through the seductions, or if evil will make itself more known--a stressful watch, ngl.

To begin positively, technically, this film was solid. Camera work and shots were quality, editing was seamless, colour grading was vibrant and enjoyable, sets were crafted with care. Check, check, check .

The concept of this film was fascinating. Starting with the world-building, trying to uncover what's happened to the world and where the characters are. As well as - are we in a dystopia, or a utopia? The setting was this ultra-futuristic world, though the production design had a minimalist 70s vibe. The red, nearly shaggy carpeting was... a choice.
